You should tell the stylist that you don't want any red or gold highlights. You should say maybe an ash color. If you either want light medium or dark blonde, always ask for an ash outcome. Ash cuts red/gold/orange tones. You should always go back to the stylist to have your roots touched-up. Any store-bought color or lifter won't work quite right. I tried that myself. I had my hair bleached professionally and I tried to just dye over the roots with average light blonde dye ... and the roots turned out so orange, it was gross. Always have it done professionally. Oh, and to condition it. By a box of VO5 Total Hair Recovery. Use it once, maybe even twice before you have your hair bleached. Use it a day or two after it's bleached. Then use it about once a month after you have your hair done. Your hair will love you. I use that stuff. It's wondrous! VO5 has all kinds of great stuff. Good luck!! :)

Your hairstylist knows exactly what to do . Any concerns just ask her. I ask questions all the time. And after you get your hair bleached and they put color in it buy a shampoo and conditioner thats for colored hair it will make your color last longer. And please dont buy cheap shampoos like pantien pro v. I recomend MATRIX, Kpak, biolage, you get what you pay for. I always bleach my hair i know what im talking about lol

Nope, don't have much advice because your hair type, natural color, and other factors come into question when deciding the best procedure. And the people on here, won't probably help much either. You need to go to several different experienced hair colorist professionals IN PERSON, and ask them what their suggestions would be. Then you will probably be able to make a better, and more informed decision.

Good Luck Hon!

have a screwdriver or pencil at hand to do the scratching that you don't want your fingers to do. it's burns and itches really bad

salon products are stronger than "at home kits". i dye my hair all the time at home, i only go to the salon when i mess it up. it shouldn't turn orange unless you go to someone who has know idea what they are doing, you should look for the "color specialist" at your salon and if you are not happy with the results right then and there, make them fix it. you should actually not wash your hair the day before you go, at least 24 hours. to much product build up....and stress on your hair.

I'm a guy and I bleach my hair. I also have Brown hair. It turns orange before it goes blonde but as long as I leave it in for a while it gets past the orange stage. When the roots are too much i just do the all my hair again

there are kits in the aisles where the hair coloring is sold that will strip most of the color from darker hair and leave it ready to color a blonde shade...but read the directions carefully!

yea it will still turn orange! So you might have to bleach it again! trust me i know from expirience!

Naturally thick super dark hair always has to go through the orangey toned transition stage. Get into the transition stage, then after that you will have to go ahead and dye it to the blonde you want. Your hair can be soaked for 10 minutes with Loreal Preference conditioner (that comes in the dye packs) after each shampoo, to prevent hair from frizzing. I also just discovered an amazing product through Avon called "Exotic Beaches" sea swept hair mist with UV filter. It makes my dry hair sooo soft and healthy again! I spray my hair just before it's totally dry after a shampoo/heavy conditioning and leave it in.

Just refresh your roots at home by focusing on the base of the hair then using the very last bit of the solution to rub through the rest. This will keep the lightest blond where it should be, on the root rather than the already dyed hair. I wouldn't suggest washing your hair the day you go in, as it is more fragile while the natural oils aren't protecting it.
