I want to dye my hair from home, any tips?

My friends do it and it looks really nice. They say they get it at the store for about $10. Where should I get it? What kind should I get? What kind should I not get? How much damage will it cause? I heard going from light to dark causes less damage than going from dark to light. I want to go from dirty blonde [my natural color] to dark brown. Maybe I'll go to a really light blonde instead, but if I do that I also want darker highlights. Any tips on how I can get it to look good, not like a nightmare? Anything else?

You want to get a high end dye. Do NOT get the cheap stuff no matter how tempted you are. Going darker isn't necessarily healthier per say but it is much easier to do yourself. My advice to have a friend there to help you evenly distribute the product. Walmart or any beauty supply place will have your dye.

Ok,Remember to use non-permanent or semi-permanent hair dyes...There is one thats called loreal color pulse.

It's really good to use,but it keeps lots of days to wash..Permanent hair dyes damage your hair a lot so,use ones that r low in permanent stuff...You could also use Loreal Colorspa Moisture Actif...I hear it's really good and darkens your hair..

hope this helps
