Chemical straightening breaks and re-forms the structure of your hair so it will become weaker and more absorbent. You need to make sure you keep it well conditioned and trim the ends as they dry out. Please have it done at a salon by an experienced professional, who can give you the amount of treatment you want. You will probably still use your straightening tools regularly to have a really sleek look. Your stylist will be able to advise you on coloring after the chemical treatment. It can be done, but again you should stick with professional work, because doing it yourself can damage the hair.

Maybe you should go to the beauty parlor and ask them what is the best way to get your hair straightened

usually...they test it on your skin first(the chemicals used) before they do it on you. The test is made so that you wont get any allergies or irritation afterwards. most salons do that..

I've did it so many times. After you straightening its easy to manage, just a little serum in the morning will do. The chemical will damage your hair so you need treatment regularly. You can get it done professionally or at home. How long it will last depends on how fast your hair grow. Curling iron will also damage your hair if you use it without protection and regularly. You can colour your hair if you want to but recommended two weeks after straightened. I think you should do it, you'll love it. trust me!!! last advice go to the salon!!!!

my response: Chemically straightenning your hair will give it a lot of texture and will most probably damage it a bit severely. Sometimes with the proper professional and great care, a perm could really turn out great! Dying and perming your hair at the same time could damage it even more than it already is, so try to avoid experimenting frequently new colors:) oh and don't wash your hair daily, wash it at least every 7-12 days if your hair isn't too textured. Most african american girls/women that i know with straight perms wash their hair every 2 weeks and use a scalp/hair oil to keep their hair from breaking off and minimize their hair damage.

CONDITIONING:

Important to chemically treated hair is the use of a protein conditioner after each shampoo. Because chemical processing reduces the protein content of the hair, replacing protein to build the hair can reduce damage and restore the hair. Thin hair can benefit from protein conditioning even before the chemical perm is applied. If you have a straight perm, deep conditioning is required about every two weeks to replace deep moisture to the hair. Moisture minimizes breakage. Sun, perspiration and heat styling all become threats to the health and strength of your hair and the condition of your scalp. These things reduce the moisture balance of chemically treated hair causing breakage, loss and discoloration, which dry the scalp.

AFTER SHAMPOOING AND CONDITIONING:

Return body and bounce to your perm by massaging a small amount of a CURLSAVER GEL through the hair roots while your hair is still damp. Use your fingers to lift the hair as you blow dry.

HEAT STYLING:

Using a blow dryer or a curling iron is a potential danger to hair, especially when it is chemically treated. A few precautions may help. First, always test the heat of a blow dryer against your hand. If it burns your hand it閳ユ獨 too hot. Test the heat of a curling iron on white paper. If the paper turns brown, your hair will burn. Do not use a curling iron every day.

SPORTS ACTIVE PEOPLE: Watch out for PERSPIRATION and CHLORINE from a swimming pool. If you perspire a lot or swim in chlorine treated swimming pool; you should shampoo your hair often to remove the damaging elements from your hair. Before participating in sports of any kind, a good idea is to apply a CREAM MOISTURIZER to protect it. This forms a barrier around your hair to defend against perspiration damage. Always shampoo more often if you perspire a lot.

COMBING AND BRUSHING:

Vigorous action with a comb or a brush is not recommended on chemically processed hair. Be gentle and always check your comb or brush for hair loss. Some hair loss is natural, however, should you notice more hair coming out than usual, you may be a victim of hair damage due to the chemical processing. When you comb and brush each day, a light spray of a VITAMIN TREATMENT helps to add the necessary moisture balance and vitamins to keep your chemically processed hair in a healthy state. Spray and comb gently. A leave in conditioner will not only strengthen your hair, but it leaves it with a fresh and clean scent. Should you feel that your hair is dry and needs a very light oil base hair groom, an oil MOISTURIZER is recommended. Never comb tangled or knotted hair without first lubricating it with an oil or cream MOISTURIZER. Detangle slowly starting at the ends and work your way up through the middle of each strand and then to the roots.

HAIR COLORING %26amp; LIGHTENING:

Hair coloring with permanent hair dye or lightening with hydrogen peroxide are chemical processes. These processes require the same precautions as the permanent relaxer or curl. Each of the recommendations made for chemically processed hair applies as well to permanent hair color.

I have naturally curl hair, and I've considered a relaxer. My hair stylist suggested against it. She said that when I wash my hair, i would still have to straigten it. All the relaxer does is relax the curl, but it does not take away the frizz and the poof. It is not "wash and go".
