Any tips for greasy hair?

I've tried everything. Please don't suggest I stop washing it so often as this has not worked. I have tried various shampoos, I don't put conditioner on the roots, and eat relatively well.

Any tips for greasy hair?

I get the very same problem and it is a real nuisance! I do wash it every day in the morning but at it's worst it can be greasy by bedtime!

I do find that when I get my hair coloured, this dries it out which can mean it's not so greasy for a couple of weeks or so. I wouldn't recommend using colour frequently to treat this problem though as it will ruin the condition of your hair.

Sometimes, if you are using shampoos that are particularly astringent on the hair and strip all of the oil from your scalp, you can find that after washing, your hair works overtime to replace the oils.

Sometimes you can find that leaving it for a few days without washing can calm down any irritation and over-production of oil slightly so that next time you wash it, it doesn't respond so vigorously in oil production. I know this is hard to do but you can keep handy some Dry Shampoo in your bag for these days.

The brand of Dry Shampoo I use is Batiste and I swear by it - I always keep it in my handbag just in case http://www.ciao.co.uk/Batiste_Dry_Shampo... It's much better than baby powder as it's a fine spray of rice powder and combs through your hair better and can also leave it smelling fresh - they've recently launched a lovely Tropical scented one!

You are right to only use conditioner in the ends of your hair - it might be worth seeing if you can get away with only conditioning every other time you wash your hair and when you do wash, only use a small amount of shampoo.

I also find that avoiding using a high number of products in your hair after washing for styling as this can make the hair heavy and oily.

One product I do find that works well is Pantene Clarifying Shampoo followed by a really light conditioner specifically for people with greasy hair. If that doesn't work then I'd recommend a really gentle shampoo, use a small amount and see how you go.

Style your hair once in the morning and try to avoid brushing or combing again during the day as this takes oil from your roots and drags it through the hair encouraging your scalp to produce more oil again.

Make sure that you wash your hair brushes/combs/and styling utensils regularly so oil, grease, or product doesn't build up and redeposit on your hair.

Try to avoid getting too hot or wearing hats that make your head warmer unless it's cold outside! Sweat can make your hair greasy too.

Finally, try not to touch your hair at all if you can during the day, our palms are ever so slightly oily and even this can contribute to build-up in the hair.

Fingers crossed some of this helps and good luck!

PS! Be careful of recommendations for using fairy liquid on your hair. Although as a quick fix this will remove the grease, your scalp will respond by producing more oil to replace it meaning you'll end up in a viscious circle.

baby powder at your hair roots.

Any tips for greasy hair?

Baby powder. I have the same problem. Just a little bit of baby powder and put it in your hair after you wash it. It should help capture a lot the grease. Just be careful not to use too much!

Tip #1:Wash it in cleansing shampoo.

If that dosn't work than put baby powder in it.

Try to avoid daily washing. The sebaceous glands are overstimulated, secreting more grease onto the hair. This creates a vicious circle where the more you wash is the greasier it becomes.

Another problem with regular washing is that although the roots are greasy the rest of your hair is stripped of oil and the ends become dry and brittle. Use a mild ph-balanced shampoo and wash hair without rubbing the scalp too much. Only apply conditioner to the mid and ends rather than at the roots.

Watch your diet. Oily and fatty foods can contribute to greasy skin and scalp. Best of all is to use those days when you're at home to give your hair a rest from daily washing. Try using a children's shampoo as these are often mild enough for greasy hair.

Any tips for greasy hair?

Try washing it more often!

Any tips for greasy hair?

I heard that sprinkling a little bit of talcum powder on the roots %26amp; brushing it through will absorb some of the grease. I tried it once but it didn't work too well as far as I remember.

Just wash your hair every day %26amp; try not to touch it throughout the day as that will make it greasier.

There are shampoos out there designed for greasy hair, try them. Also you can buy dry shampoo, which you spray on your hair to keep it fresh. A lot of top brands like charles worthington sell these now, and they also have scent in them, I think they might help your problem.

wash it more often- you take out the grease

Any tips for greasy hair?

conditioner adds to grease, shampoo removes it. lol youve been doing it all wrong. wash your hair more. shampoo is the one that washes your hair, conditioner just detangles it. and you should only put it on the lower part of your hair. your roots normally dont tangle. and if your hair is still greasy, try baby powder. it absorbs grease. but not too much!

I forget the brand, but theres this powder called "Shower %26amp; Shower" in a blue/teal bottle. Put that in your hair, or try Aussie Dual Personality Shampoo Root Cleanser + Tip Mender. It dries out all of your hair and doesnt moisturize the tips, despite what the bottle says

Any tips for greasy hair?

Get a crew cut!

Any tips for greasy hair?

Dont scrub your scalp as this encourages your glands to produce more oil, wash it gently with a shampoo for greasy hair and apply a small amount of conditioner to ends only. Dont run your fingers through your hair as this produces oils. Avoid rubbing your scalp for same reason. When hair is dry do you use any product on it for straightening/ curling etc? Serums are also oily and if you apply more then needed they will also make hair greasy.

Any tips for greasy hair?

Put alittle bit of Baby Powder at your roots but if you put to much it will look like dandruff.
